Are you sure you don’t need media training?

This video shows a great example of a chief executive who has no idea what to say to the media. We saw this video on the Mumbrella site and they say:

News.com.au reports that the chief exec in question – the Australian Dr Stephen Duckett – has been let go by the Canadian health service as a result of the bizarre cookie-fixated exchange going viral.

Hughes PR offer media training as one of our services. We partner with Ron Kandelaars who runs a half day media training session which includes:

  • background, theory and practical media management experience, including time in front of the camera
  • a focus on equipping up to three or four participants at a time with the skills to manage issues or promote their business through the media in a positive way

I’ll bet their next CEO will have media training and spending half a day media training has got to be worth it.

Welcome

What to write for the first post of the Hughes Public Relations blog? Does it really matter because it will always be at the bottom of the pile – that’s how blogs work. The news of today will soon be the chip wrapper of tomorrow and out of everyone’s minds.

Why are we setting up a blog? Indeed why blog at all?

More than a year ago Hughes PR recognised that digital and social media were becoming hard to separate from public relations so we expanded our PR offerings to include digital. We’ve done a lot of digital work with clients, and also enjoyed having our own Twitter account, YouTube channel and FlickR page. Now, it’s time to blog.

A blog gives us the chance to tell the stories that don’t make it to our corporate website. A blog is a forum for us to display our personality in a bit more depth than our website, Twitter feed or Flickr photos ever could.

We plan to write regularly about public relations, social media and communications strategies in Adelaide and around the world.

This blog will also give us the chance to showcase our case studies  and reflect on our client work in a more personal way. It will also give us an opportunity to tell you more about the type of work we do here.

We’d also like to hear from you. Is there anything you would like to know about us or about the work we do?

To receive updates anytime we have a new blog post, subscribe to the RSS feed, or subscribe via email (click the ‘Sign me up box on the right).
